TVCC Seniors Mens Grade - Preseason Training 2011/2012

Hi all,

Well whilst the weather the last few days might remind you of last cricket season, it is indeed time to dust off the cricket bag, take out your whites and wash them from your last game, and come along to pre-season training.

We will be kicking into gear with our first training session on the 28th of August at Chisholm oval (from 10am). All training sessions this year will be the whole grade club, so whether you are looking to crack a position in first grade or fives get along, come and see the friends that you have ignored all winter, and start to get ready for the season to come.

We will be looking to have registration forms available on the day in the club house and would ask that everyone sign up on the day.

Our coaches for the season will be Vinesh Bennett for the first grade squad, and David Pullen for the lower grades.

The full pre-season training schedule is below. Pass on to anyone you think may have missed the email, or if you have friends that keep talking about wanted to have a game send it on to them also! All training sessions are at Chisholm 1.

* Sunday 28th of August - 10 till 12
* Sunday 4th of September - 10 till 12
* Sunday 11th of September - 10 till 1
* Sunday 18th of September - 10 till 1

TVCC First Grade win Konica Cup - Wednesday, 2 February 2011

TVCC won the Konica Cup last Sunday, the first time that the trophy has been fought over under the Twenty20 Format.  After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Justin Haywood and Matt Floros got the boys off to a flyer, going at 10 an over for the first 6.  Matt Floros was the first to go after a quick fire 25 before Jugsy took over where Matty left off.  Jugs hit 5 sixes in his knock of  49 including forcing a 10 minute break when the ball was lost behind the Manuka scoreboard after a mammoth six.  The 10 minute break seemed to break the momentum and the loss of 4 quick wickets brought the blue baggers back into the game.  Solid contributions by Sam Thornton (21), Michael Barrington-Smith (25no) and 10 off the last 3 balls to Shane Devoy set a target of 149 for Queanbeyan to win the game.

What followed was a clinical bowling and fielding display, mixed in with a bit of good fortune and despite 13 off the first over, Queanbeyan were never really in the hunt.  Wickets were shared around, with Vinesh Bennett picking up 4 for 21 (plus a headache), 2 wickets to Shane Devoy and Michael Wescombe and one to comeback king Evan Kellar with two dodgy knees and a dodgy ankle.  Queanbeyan were eventually all out for 68.

Firsts and Seconds now get the opportunity to contest the one day semi finals commencing this Sunday, 6 February with Firsts taking on Wests at Stirling and Seconds taking on Queanbeyan at Chisholm 1.  Good luck boys.

TVCC Second Grade Win One Day Premiership - Wednesday, 24 February 2010

 Second grade took out the One Day Premiership on Sunday, defeating Weston Creek at Stirling oval.

In a low scoring affair, Creek batted first, and could only manage 97 from 47 overs. A great bowling and fielding performance from the all the boys had them on the front foot from the first ball.

With the bat, although there were a few nervous moments (2 for 5 I believe), the lads passed Creek inside 25 overs, and the celebrations began early!

A great win for Kevin Hogan (in his first season as captain) and the rest of the team, Sam Thornton, Chris Russo, Tim Crome, Michael Barrington-Smith, Brad Jones, Blake Henman, Matt Floros, Guy Randell, Reece Parry, Tim Floros and Vinesh Bennett. Awesome boys!

Paul Dunn racks up 300th game - Tuesday, 17 November 2009

Flanked by sons Ryan and Sean, Paul Dunn became only the second player in Tuggeranong Valley Cricket Club history to play 300 senior grade games on Saturday at Phillip District. Paul first played for the club back in 1986, and has played in all grades from 6th grade up to 3rd grade. Having progressed over the years from a dashing batsman with a characteristic duck hook, Dunny now loves nothing more than terrorising opposition batsmen with his slow hand grenades.  Congrats to the man known as the “Cougar”… 400 seems just around the corner!

P. Dunn Career stats: 300 games, 3457 Runs @ 14.29, 136 Wickets @ 16.5, 92 Catches
